Pharmacy Building Grand Opening

To celebrate the opening of the new College of Pharmacy building, the College hosted an exclusive donor preview and ribbon-cutting ceremony in August 2026. Dean Ellingrold, President Grasso and Provost McCauley shared remarks about the College’s future before officially opening the building.

I had the privilege of conceptualizing and leading the creative strategy for this once-in-a-lifetime event, from developing the visual direction to ensuring a cohesive experience across the event’s branding and materials.

ROLE

Because the building is the tallest mass-timber research building in the world, I decided to use timber as the basis for the event logo. I drew the new building mark and accompanying timber illustration, which were then translated across various materials, including a timber-themed, double-layer celebratory cake displayed during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

For the exclusive donor preview, I designed an informational gallery highlighting the building’s exciting sustainability features. Since the donor preview was a cocktail event, I replaced U-M Maize with gold and incorporated a decorative typeface to elevate the visual assets and create a more sophisticated event experience.
